Update: SEPA Determination of Significance for Cumberland Project Delayed

We’ve received an important update regarding the proposed aggregate mine and asphalt plant project in Cumberland, WA. According to King County Department of Local Services, the target date for issuing the SEPA Determination of Significance (DS) letter has been rescheduled to June 12, 2025.

The DS letter was originally expected to be issued tomorrow, but as Jarrod Lewis, Product Line Manager for Managed Accounts at King County Permitting Division, explained, this timeline may still be adjusted as they continue to work through the SEPA process.

When the decision is finally made, notifications will be distributed through multiple channels: the SEPA Register, mailed notices to properties within 500 feet of the project, notifications to relevant public agencies and tribes, and direct communication to all listed Parties of Record.

We’ll continue to monitor this developing situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
